Fortis Mining Engineering & Manufacturing is currently recruiting for the position of a Millwright Journeyperson. Fortis is a strong leader in Canadian mining, and we pride ourselves on the work we do, and the people and communities we work with. The Millwright’s primary responsibilities include installing or dismantling machinery and equipment according to equipment diagrams & specs, blueprints, and other diagrams. This position also requires that the Millwright troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic problems with associated equipment. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test will be required as a condition of employment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recertify and repair equipment
    • Inspect machinery as it arrives, unload parts, and assemble with the safe and effective use of hand and power tools
    • Relocate unassembled equipment as it arrives, positioning the machinery and pieces needing to be assembled, using hoists, dollies, and trucks
    • Interpret diagrams, blueprints and schematics to determine work procedures
    • Identify and correct any problems found in machines, equipment, or processes in order to facilitate production
    • Ensure that safety policies, quality standards, and standard operating procedures are followed
    • Pull test equipment as part of recertification
  • Processing jobs according to defined company policies and protocols
    • Providing details necessary to administrator for job number assignment
    • Reviewing, understanding, and completing work order
    • Ensuring all required parts and components for recertification are in stock or on order
  • Work Area and Tools
    • Maintaining work area to keep it clean and tidy and to remove any obstacles that could present a hazard
    • Maintain all equipment and tools in clean and good working condition
  • Assist in identifying low stock and supplies as necessary
  • Provide assistance to other areas of the company, as required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Journeyperson Certificate preferred; willing to consider Apprentice level applications
  • Experience in moving, assembling, disassembling, troubleshooting, and repairing various types of machinery and equipment
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test will be required
  • Any safety-related training and certificates would be considered an asset, but not required
