Fortis Mining Engineering & Manufacturing is currently recruiting for the position of a Drafting Supervisor. The Drafting Supervisor is responsible for organizing, planning, directing, and evaluating the drafting department. Working closely with division leaders and external clients, the drafting supervisor ensures that projects are prioritised and executed appropriately. Primary responsibilities include ensuring that procedures are implemented and followed to ensure quality and consistency within the department, and that all drafting projects conform to the highest standards of quality and safety as defined by the organization, applicable codes, and safety standards.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as the first point of contact when intercompany divisions and clients require drafting services
- Identify new projects and request project numbers
- Continuously monitor and update Engineering Master List to update project statuses
- Assign projects to drafting department members; ensure they have an appropriate priority list and complete assigned work according to specifications
- Establish and maintain drafting standards
- Check/markup drawings for errors and ensure they conform to drafting standards
- Assist with drafting as needed, using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- Host weekly drafting meetings to relay information from other divisions on potential drawing issues, review changing standards, NCR’s, etc.
- Prepare quotes as requested and send to various divisional personnel or external clients
- Identify and issue change orders when drafting or engineering work is required and is over and above what was initially quoted
- Ensure the drafting department is capturing costs appropriately and receiving billable credit on all jobs
- Collaborate with other departments to troubleshoot, resolve issues, and discuss alternative designs
- Establish, document, implement, and monitor quality control measures for ensuring accurate design and drafting
- Ensure compliance with ISO requirements
- Ensure drawing folders are organized and maintained with the correct drawings / revisions and descriptions
- Manage and direct members of drafting department
- Develop department team members to required competency to adequately perform job responsibilities
- Perform direct supervisory duties including but not limited to employee performance management, corrective and disciplinary matters, and time & absence management
- Manage morale for the drafting department by setting and demonstrating a strong business ethic for dealing with employees, suppliers, and customers
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- Design and Manufacturing Engineering Technology Diploma or equivalent
- Fall Protection Certification & Below the Hook Rigging Certification
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Strong time-management skills; ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple responsibilities
- Possess a positive and professional attitude, set a high standard, and convey professionalism at all times
- Familiarity with OH&S Regulations, Mine Regulations, and other related Engineering standards
- Valid Driver’s license
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
