Northern Strands is currently recruiting for Technical Specialist (Working at Heights). The Technical Specialist will provide labor and support for the Fall Protection and Suspended Access Divisions with a presence in Manitoba. The position encompasses a wide variety of work and commands a diverse range of skills, with a focus on working at heights. This is Safety Sensitive position is conditional to completing and passing a Drug & Alcohol test.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Engineered Fall Protection
- Participate in site visits and assessments
- Participate in the design of fall protection systems and present recommendations to customers
- Assist with inspections and installations
- Complete project documentation and submit as required
- Perform minor sale, estimating and quoting
- Suspended Access
- Manage motor inventory warehoused in Winnipeg location
- Conduct small repairs (ie. Electrical cords) when possible; otherwise, coordinator with Saskatoon for returning motors and stage inventory for repair and recertification
- Attend at customer sites when equipment is faulty to inspect and troubleshoot equipment and identify possible resolutions/alternatives
- Assist in the setup and take down of suspended access equipment at customer sites
- Identify suspended access part and accessories and pick according to picking lists
- General
- Perform shipping/receiving duties including receiving inventory and packaging inventory for shipment
- Promote a positive, team-orientated environment
- Provide other support to the company, as required
- Some overtime may be required, as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working at heights in mining or construction industry
- Familiar with Manitoba health and safety regulations and specifically with regulations related to working at heights
- The ability to read and understand blueprints and drawings would be an asset
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Warehouse experience would be beneficial but is not required
- Ability to operate or to be trained to operate a forklift
- Trade or safety certifications related to mining or constructions would be beneficial, but not required
- Valid driver’s license
